Ahmed ElGanzouri

Ahmed ElGanzouri

Global Director, Sustainability and Energy, Magna International Inc.

I am excited to fuse our sustainability efforts and initiatives with a people-centric approach. I am most excited to tackle these issues through collaboration and diversity in thought. The rapid advancements in decarbonization are allowing us to do things deemed impossible just a couple of years ago, so let's do it together!

I have been with Magna International for 18 months now and have been privileged to lead our Sustainability and Energy group and establish systems to empower our 161,000 global employees. We rolled out sustainability training taken by 40,000 employees in 11 languages, and while we focused on connecting sustainability to people’s roles and jobs, we also wanted to grow a culture of sustainability outside of work. We rolled out a Sustainability Ambassadors Club to share tips and engage in an open dialogue around a more sustainable and eco-conscious lifestyle.

In empowering the right stakeholders – the business OWNERS and decision makers – we were able to hit some exciting successes within the year. In 2023, Magna implemented 5 times more energy-saving projects than the year prior and hit a 10% energy efficiency improvement, and we submitted our Science-Baed Targets for 2030 and 2050 net-zero targets for validation.

In sustainability, it’s an all-hands-on-deck approach, and I strongly believe in industry collaboration. I sit on the Supplier Partnership for the Environment Board of Directors, and as the Membership Chair, my aspiration is not just to bring in more members but to truly embed the spirit of sustainability and partnership across the industry.
